laboratory xray

The DRDH Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department implemented the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) in June 2008. This means all the x-rays and ultrasound exams are digital and are stored electronically. We are a part of the Diagnostic Imaging Repository (DI-r) within the Champlain LHIN; hospitals within the C-LHIN have viewing access to our images and reports and we have access to theirs.

The Deep River and District Hospital processes requisitions for x-rays, ultrasound etc., regardless of where the physician who ordered your test is located. After the test is complete, we provide the physician (in Ottawa, Pembroke or elsewhere) with a written report. Tell your physician you prefer to have the testing done locally.

The DRDH Mammography program is accredited with Canadian Association of Radiologists and the Bone Mineral Density program is accredited with the Ontario Association of Radiologists.

Preparation for Exams:

Some exams such as Barium Studies, IVP’s and most Ultrasounds require preparation. Therefore, you must check with a technologist in the Department prior to coming. Instruction sheets are sometimes provided by your physician, or you may obtain them from the X-ray Department.

APPOINTMENTS are required for these exams. You may call the Department to arrange for such appointments, or drop in. Instruction sheets are available from some physicians or from the department.

Appointments:

Appointments are not always necessary but you may wish to call ahead to confirm whether an appointment is required. When you arrive we cannot always guarantee that your request may be taken care of immediately. We operate on a first come basis, however, emergency patients are cared for first. Therefore there may be a slight waiting period prior to having your exam(s).
