Visiting Hours

In light of enhanced infection control practices, in-patient visiting hours will be restricted to:

· 11:30 am to 1:00 pm
· 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Only two (2) visitors per patient, please. More visitors are often found tiring by patients.

These new hours mean that family may spend mealtime with patients and are encouraged to help them eat, if necessary. The patient then has time to rest and to participate in therapeutic activities between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm It is in the best interests of the patient that visitors abide by the designated visiting hours. Exceptions will be allowed for compassionate reasons.

Children are an important part of the family and are welcome to visit if accompanied by a parent. Visits should be brief and if children become disruptive, they will be asked to leave. For their own safety, small children should not crawl around on the floor.

Children must not visit patients in the hospital if they have any of the following:

• fever
• rash
• sore throat, coughing, sneezing or a runny nose
• nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
• recent contact with someone who has a transmissible disease

Unvaccinated children who have not yet had chicken pox and who have been exposed to chicken pox should not visit the hospital for a period of three weeks after exposure.

Needless to say, adults should not visit patients in the Hospital if they are experiencing similar signs and symptoms of illness.

Visitors are encouraged to wash their hands as they enter and as they leave the patient’s room. Waterless hand washing stations are located at all hospital entrances and outside each patient room for your convenience.
