24 Hour Emergency Services The Department is staffed by a physician on-call or on-site, and by Registered Nurses who have elected to focus on emergency nursing and have taken special courses specific to that area. Phone: (613) 584-1266 ext. 166 Emergency number 911 HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT? Welcome to the Deep River and District Hospital's Emergency Department. An emergency nurse will see you within 15 minutes of your arrival to assess your condition. If you are experiencing chest pain or are having difficulty breathing, please alert the emergency nurse immediately. How soon a doctor sees you depends on how sick or badly injured you are. For example, the doctor will see someone with a heart attack before someone with a sprained ankle or sore throat. Patients are seen by a doctor in order of need, not time of arrival. Please do not eat or drink. If your condition worsens while you are waiting, please let the nurse know. While you are awaiting 1. Have your Ontario Health Insurance card ready, or your medical insurance information if you live outside Ontario. 2. Have a list of all medications that you take on a regular basis and any other important information, e.g., allergies. Before you leave If you decide to leave before being seen by a doctor, please talk with a nurse. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
