THE DIABETES CENTRE At the
Diabetes Centre we are here to help you manage your diabetes as well as
assisting with the management of pre-diabetes. We welcome both individuals who
have diabetes as well as those who have people with diabetes in their
care. We
offer both classes & individual appointments with the Nurse &
Dietitian Diabetes Educator.
A physician’s referral is not necessary to attend the diabetes
center! Please
take the time to learn how to control your diabetes & how to live a
healthy life. We
offer both group classes & individual nutrition counseling by a
Registered Dietitian for a variety of nutritional problems including high
cholesterol, high blood pressure, unplanned weight loss, food allergies
& intolerances. Please
note: We do not offer individual counseling for weight
loss. WHO
CAN ATTEND Anyone
is welcome to attend classes or individual appointments whether you have a
family doctor, belong to a family health team or don’t have a doctor at
all! HOW TO
REGISTER Please
register at least 1 week in advance of the class. To
register either for a class or a follow up visit with either the Diabetes

how to eat better for a healthier heart. STEPS
TO MANAGE YOUR HYPERTENSION Learn
how to manage your blood pressure with lifestyle & medications. Incorporate the DASH diet into
your life & learn to control your sodium intake to improve your
numbers! HEALTHY
EATING FOR A HEALTHY WEIGHT Kick
start your weight loss (or maintenance program) with an informal
discussion on setting realistic weight goals, calorie counting basics
