The Diagnostic Imaging Department
The Diagnostic Imaging Department at Deep River & District Hospital provides a range of essential medical imaging services to support diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care. We are committed to delivering safe, timely, and accurate imaging in a compassionate environment.
Services Offered
We provide routine X-ray services to assist in the evaluation of bones, lungs, and soft tissues. No appointment is necessary for patients with a valid requisition. X-rays are performed on a first-come, first-served basis during regular hours.
Mammography services are available through the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP), delivered in partnership with Pembroke Regional Hospital.
Individuals aged 40–74 can self-refer by calling 613-732-1463 and requesting that their appointment take place at Deep River District Health.
For those aged 75 and older, a physician referral is required.
Our ultrasound services include a wide range of diagnostic scans:
- Abdominal
- Pelvic
- Obstetrical
- Thyroid
- Lumps (not breast)
- Carotid
- Leg veins
- Hernia
- Scrotum
- Arm veins
- Salivary, submandibular, and parotid glands
Please note that early pregnancy (dating) ultrasounds performed before 16 weeks are medical in nature and not for viewing purposes. Accompanying individuals are not permitted unless the patient is a minor. Results are not provided by the technologist at the time of the scan.
Electrocardiogram (ECG): No appointment required with a valid requisition.
Preparing for Your Visit
Appointments are required for all outpatient ultrasound exams and X-rays.

Walk-in X-rays and ECGs are available during regular hours.
Please note that if your requisition was sent electronically by your provider, there may be a short delay before it is received by our department.
For Providers
Deep River & District Hospital accepts diagnostic imaging referrals through the Ocean eReferral Network. We encourage providers to take advantage of this secure, streamlined method for submitting referrals.
