Get to Know Deep River & District Health

We are proud of our roots, driven by our mission, and inspired by the future.

As a vibrant and growing organization, we are committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to the communities we serve while honouring the land we live on, the partnerships we build, and the history that has shaped us.

Land Acknowledgement

Deep River & District Health is grounded in a deep connection to the land and to those we serve across the Upper Ottawa Valley.

We acknowledge that DRDH is located on the unceded, traditional territories of the Algonquin Nation, and that we are privileged to live and work on land that has been stewarded for generations by Indigenous peoples.

We are grateful for the opportunity to provide care on this land and deeply appreciate Indigenous peoples’ historic connection to this place, as well as their traditional knowledge and healing developed over generations.

We make a collective commitment to continue to establish meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and to further the promise of truth and reconciliation.

We care for every person like a loved one, within a connected system of partners that share our commitment to person-centred, compassionate care.

Atlas Alliance

DRDH is a proud member of the Atlas Alliance, a collaboration of 16 healthcare organizations across Eastern Ontario that use the Epic digital health information system. Through this partnership, patient health records can be safely and seamlessly accessed by care teams across the region, supporting continuity of care for those who visit multiple facilities.

Champlain Centre for Healthcare Ethics

Healthcare often involves complex decisions. That’s why we have adopted an ethics framework and are supported by the Champlain Centre for Healthcare Ethics, helping teams across our organization navigate ethical questions with compassion, integrity, and respect for all.

Honouring Our History

As we look ahead to continued growth and innovation, we remain grounded in the legacy of care that has shaped our journey.

Early Beginnings

The first medical clinic in Deep River was located at 2 Glendale Street and operated until 1946.

The Original Hospital

Opening in 1946 at the corner of Ridge Road and Montcalm Street, the original hospital served the community for nearly three decades.

A New Chapter

In 1975, the hospital moved to its current location on Banting Drive, marking a new era of healthcare in the region.

Today, we continue to build on this strong foundation, investing in our people, our growth, and our community to deliver excellent, compassionate care.
