Effective and accountable leadership is critical to guiding our organization, supporting our teams, and advancing care delivery across our multi-sector health campus. To attract and retain experienced, strategic leaders, we must offer a fair, transparent, and competitive Executive Compensation Program.
Following an extended provincial compensation freeze, the Government of Ontario introduced the Broader Public Sector Executive Compensation Act, 2014 and Ontario Regulation 400/17, establishing clear rules and requirements for setting executive salaries across the public sector. These rules apply to hospitals, colleges, universities, school boards, and other designated organizations.
Under this framework, executive salary and performance-based pay must remain at or below the 50th percentile of comparable roles in similar organizations. Signing bonuses and payments in lieu of perquisites are prohibited.
Unlike other organizations, Deep River & District Health operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Our executives are responsible for the care of our community when they are at their most vulnerable. Our leaders are often on call and accountable to our patients, residents, and team members.
The Executive Compensation Program includes the following:
