A family council is a self-led, self-governed group made up of family members and friends of residents in long-term care. These councils provide a space to connect, share experiences, support one another, and advocate for meaningful improvements within the home.
In Ontario, family councils are recognized under the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, which ensures their right to exist and operate independently from the home’s administration.
While Four Seasons Lodge does not currently have an active family council, we are committed to supporting the creation of one. If you’re a family member of a current resident and are interested in learning more or helping to get a council started, we encourage you to visit Family Councils Ontario for helpful resources or contact us directly at assistance@drdh.org to express your interest or ask questions.
Together, we can help create a strong, collaborative community that enhances the quality of life for all residents.
