DEEP RIVER AND DISTRICT HEALTH INVITES COMMUNITY TO HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE RESIDENTIAL HOSPICE

Deep River and District Health (DRDH) is inviting residents from across the Upper Ottawa Valley to help shape the future of hospice care in our region by participating in a series of Community Hospice Planning Sessions this July.

As part of the continued growth of the Deep River and District Health Campus, the current Four Seasons Lodge space will be transformed into a residential hospice following the opening of the new 96 bed long-term care home on the Campus. The hospice will provide compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care closer to home while offering spaces designed to support patients, families, and loved ones throughout their journey.

As planning continues, DRDH is seeking input from the community to help ensure the residential hospice reflects the needs, priorities, and experiences of those it will serve.

“The most meaningful hospice programs are designed with the people who will use them in mind,” said Janna Hotson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Deep River and District Health. “We are committed to creating a hospice that reflects the values of our community and provides comfort, dignity, and compassion for patients and families. We encourage anyone with an interest or lived experience to join the conversation and help shape this important community resource.”

The sessions will provide an opportunity for community members to share their ideas and perspectives on the future residential hospice. Discussions will focus on the programs, services, and supports that will best meet the needs of patients, families, and caregivers, as well as the physical environment and overall design principles that will create a welcoming, comforting, and compassionate place for care.

DRDH welcomes participation from all members of the community and particularly encourages individuals with lived experience of hospice or end-of-life care, including patients, family members, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community partners.
