Duties:

 

  • Codes and abstracts all inpatient and emergency records.
  • Responsible for the Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis of NACRS records.
  • Answers incoming calls to the Department (i.e. requests for information, charts, etc.).
  • Responsible for month end statistics and data quality audits on all NACRS data submissions.
  • Provides relief for rest periods in Registration as required.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
  • Supports and demonstrates the mission, vision and values of Deep River and District Hospital.
  • Other duties may be assigned and may not be limited to the scope of an individual department.

 

 

Qualifications:                       

 

  • Graduate of an approved Health Record Technician Program required.
  • Current certification with C.H.I.M.A. required.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Winrecs.
  • Continuously participate in credentialing for certification as required by C.H.I.M.A. required
  • A high standard of proficiency in word processing, excellent working knowledge of Medical Terminology and computer applications required.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and in a team environment required.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner required.
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task required.
  • Maintain staff & patient confidentiality required.
  • Ability to utilize information technology required.
  • Demonstrates efficient and effective use of resources required.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative and hospital/program policies required.
  • Exceptional Attendance required.
  • Must agree to adhere to DRDH standards of behaviour.
