The COVID-19 pandemic has not stopped our community from standing behind our local healthcare workers once again. The Healthcare Heroes Program, kicked off earlier this spring, has resulted in an incredible $3,550 raised during its first month to support patient and resident care at the Deep River and District Hospital (DRDH). “We have chosen to celebrate and recognize the Healthcare Heroes at DRDH by encouraging donations in any amount in honour of their unwavering commitment to caring for the patients and residents in our community,” said Leo Buckley, DRDH Foundation Board Chair.
“We are incredibly grateful to the donors who have enthusiastically embraced this fundraising program so far, making generous donations, and helping to honour our Healthcare Heroes in a meaningful way,” said Janna Hotson, DRDH President and CEO. “Being able to share the sincere messages of thanks we have received with those honoured through this program has been a positive experience for the entire DRDH team.”
Those honoured so far have been incredibly touched to be recognized as a Healthcare Hero and to receive their pin, knowing that someone has acknowledged their care and dedication.
A variety of individuals and groups have been recognized during the first month of the campaign, including the COVID-19 vaccine clinic team, each of our 76 Nurses, the Emergency Department Team, four local physicians, those in housekeeping, and more! “These donations help DRDH put great tools in the hands of our Healthcare Heroes, and help us continue to offer excellent, compassionate care during these difficult and evolving times,” said Hotson.
